The Cottage

Llamedos is bursting with traditional features, from beamed ceilings to original stone walls. The accommodation consists of two large bedrooms, the twin includes an ensuite and the second bedroom has a large, comfortable king size bed. The spacious family bathroom includes a power shower, bidet and bath plus linen and towels are provided. There is plenty of storage space in both bedrooms which both offer stunning views across the valleys and Mamtor.

The large comfortable living space features a stone log effect fireplace, TV, DVD, music system and Wi-Fi. There is also a small library where you are welcome to share and swap book plus an array of informative leaflets and maps of things to do in and around the area.

A large and recently modernised dining kitchen includes fitted wood units, gas cooker, microwave, fridge and washing machine plus plenty of cooking utensils for those guests keen to cook. The pine table seats six people comfortably and again offers views across the Peak District.

The cottage also offers a patio with outdoor seating plus parking for two cars directly opposite the cottage in the quiet, private cul de sac.

Please note, the cottage can be booked for 3 nights minimum. Our bookings are Friday to Friday unless off season.

The Village

Castleton is a beautiful village, gathered around the church and green and set in a magnificent cauldron of hills. It is also an interesting village with ‘country’ shops to browse around, the famous Blue John caverns to explore, Peveril Castle to storm and many a pub and restaurant to visit after a hard day’s walking.

The village has a small local grocery store within 5-minute walking distance, as well as plenty of eating options including six pubs, an Italian Restaurant, fish and chip shop and local cafes all within easy walking from the cottage. A post-office, children’s playground and football pitch, bus terminal and regular local events such as secret cinema and concerts in Peak Cavern really make this village extra special and sets it apart from others in the area.

Just opposite the cottage is access into Cave Dale which takes you straight into the peaks and around into the famous Mamtor and across to Lose Hill or over into High Peak if you are keen for a longer trek!

Castleton

Castleton cottage has been in our family for generations and really is a home away from home. The cottage and furniture have been recently updated however it still boasts some gorgeous original features and within minutes of arriving you feel relaxed. We love the fact that Cave Dale (our favourite walk) is directly opposite the cottage as well as multiple other walks from an easy stroll to twenty milers – you can walk as little or as long as you want. We simply leave the car (and the world) behind and just be present. The food offering in the village is incredible, all the pubs are excellent, and we love our afternoon teas in the many cafes. It is a busy little village however with our cottage conveniently tucked away off the main village square, we adore the privacy and quietness it offers us. Hopefully, you’ll love your time there as much as we do!”
